For over 80 years, Coteswood House in Woodthorpe has been educating young girls and boys of Nottinghamshire with its dedicated team of teachers.

Coteswood House is a happy pre-school and day nursery and we pride ourselves that most children benefit from their time with us, remembering the school fondly in years to come!

We welcome all children between the ages of two and five years old.

Early years funding is available for all three and four year olds.  Early years funding for two year olds is subject to eligibility.

Our Core Values

We aim to develop the individual talents of each child. We provide a happy, caring and stimulating atmosphere and aim to develop children’s independence, social skills and confidence. We expect children to have lively inquiring minds and to work willingly to improve their skills.

Our classes are small and friendly but we demand high standards of behaviour from pupils. We particularly expect the children to show consideration and respect for others at all times.

Extra Curricular Activities

We have weekly, optional French lessons where children can learn French through singing and fun games. We are lucky enough to have Monthly forest school outings, these are free of charge. A group of children are taken to local outdoor areas by a qualified forest school practitioner along with staff from Coteswood. Forest school is an inspirational experience that offers children opportunities to learn and develop self-esteem and confidence through hands on learning in the outdoor environment. The children also perform at least one concert during the school year, an event enjoyed by all!

We have an open door policy and make ourselves available as much as we can to discuss a child’s development. We use Tapestry which is an online learning journal, this is completely interactive for parents and allows Parents to follow their child’s development and also add to their child’s profile. Once a year we have parent’s evenings and also every child receives an end of year report.

My son started at Coteswood in February and I can’t speak more highly of the pre-school. He absolutely loves his days there and the staff are all a pleasure to deal with. I get regular observations so I’m always up to speed with what my son is up to. The availability of longer days is also perfect for full-time working parents like us – I struggled to find that anywhere else. We’re all so glad that we chose Coteswood!

My daughter started here in January and absolutely loves it! I am extremely pleased with the happy atmosphere, fun and creative activities provided and the warm and caring nature of the staff towards the children. I would definitely recommend this preschool.

Quite possibility the best Pre- School in Nottingham – it is just like a home from home. Oscar adores it here and the Staff are out-standing. He has settled extremely well this term and looks forward to every morning … (he has) gained so much confidence in a short period of time, he is really flourishing in this beautiful setting.

I can’t praise Coteswood highly enough for helping my little boy settle in … he has loved it since day one! He goes off smiling every day and tells me he “loves school!”

The staff are warm, welcoming and genuinely care about your child. The children are friendly and polite and the activities are fun and educational. If you are looking for somewhere for your child where their imagination, love of learning and creativity will be encouraged and nurtured and in a small, caring school environment then Coteswood is definitely the place for you.

I had the best time of my life at this school and remember crying on my last day as if it was yesterday. I’ve loads of cracking old photos (13 years+ old) that I’ll dig out when I get home. I think I’ve still got the video footage of when we all appeared on GMTV and the local news, not forgetting singing for S Club 7. Wishing you all the luck in the world xx.
